Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) tool

The Alcohol Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral: A Clinical Guide is a tool developed by the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse and the College of Family Physicians of Canada. This resource is for Canadian family physicians, nurse practitioners, and other health-care providers to use when working with clients who are at risk for or experiencing a substance use disorder. This guide sets out a simple 3-step screening, brief intervention, and referral protocol.
