Components to include in follow-up care after completing a quality of life assessment

  • Provide education and counselling on how to mitigate negative feelings
  • Provide referrals for further support (e.g., psychotherapists, psychiatrists, and counselors). 
  • Incorporate the person’s needs (such as emotional or cultural needs) into the plan of care
  • Empower persons who anticipate or live with an ostomy through ongoing education and training.
